In neighborhoods from coast to coast, a commonly misapplied tree pruning method is quietly reducing long-term canopy vitality. This tree pruning technique, called lion-tailing, involves removing most of the foliage near the trunk and leaving only small tufts of green at the outer ends of each branch.
